Tourism and handicrafts is a field with a wide chain of jobs and businesses that has a great capacity to generate currency and employment. The growth of this industry is associated with the growth of a chain of related industries including transportation, accommodation, food and handicrafts.

According to the report of jahanegardesh, quoted by IRNA, one of the potential capacities of the country, which has always been specially emphasized in the development plans, is the field of tourism and handicrafts. While tourism has always been the focus of the heads of the regime since the fourth development plan, but the negligence of the governments and neglect of this field has caused the country to lag behind other countries in the region in this field. In the 7th program, which was announced recently by the leader of the revolution, one of the clauses is once again dedicated to the development of the tourism industry and the promotion of handicrafts.
According to the statistics of the World Bank, in 2019 (before the outbreak of Corona), Turkey was able to reach a record income of 41 billion dollars from tourism, while our country earned about 5 billion dollars from this area this year. Meanwhile, Iran ranks 10th in terms of ancient and historical attractions and 5th in the world in terms of ecotourism. Comparing the income of our country with other countries in the region shows the backwardness in this area and the need for the government to pay special attention to this sector.
Paying attention to tourism leads to economic development and reducing dependence on oil, and by creating employment, it employs human resources in various sectors. Tourism, like many other economic activities, is a kind of supply and demand-based trade and the more prosperous it is, the more businesses related to it, especially in micro-enterprises, will move, and this will be transferred to other economic sectors in a chain way. .
One of the best advantages of tourism is the possibility of regional balance and achieving sustainable and comprehensive development in areas with growth potential. From this point of view, tourism is one of the best ways to compensate for the delays, especially in remote areas. On the other hand, based on statistics, each activity and tourism project creates employment for 10 people on average. In many countries, the amount of income obtained from tourism is higher than the total tax income.
The 13th government, realizing the wide advantages of the tourism industry, has made the prosperity of this sector its goal and is pursuing solutions to achieve this goal.

Government program to attract tourists
At the beginning of October, the president went to the National Museum of Iran in the beginning of October, continuing the process of staff supervision of executive bodies, and in the presence of the minister and managers of the Ministry of Cultural Heritage, he emphasized the existence of great capacities for the number of foreign tourists to reach 15 million people per year and said: Tourism family-oriented, cancellation of tourist visas with target countries, facilitation and support of private sector investment in the tourism sector.
Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi emphasized the importance of the tourism sector boom and added: The boom of the tourism industry activates the tourism economy and besides the significant financial turnover and many capacities to create employment, it also has a huge cultural burden. Emphasizing the existence of many capacities and referring to the important mission of this ministry in the fields of cultural heritage, tourism and handicrafts, the president said: the cultural heritage department has important tasks in the field of identification, registration, restoration and maintenance, determining the privacy of works and introducing and exploiting them. It has cultural and historical heritage.
The contribution of tourism to GDP
According to the latest statistics, the share of tourism in the country’s gross domestic product in 2019 (before the corona epidemic) was equal to 6.6 percent. This figure for Turkey is reported to be around 11%. According to the data of the World Bank, the total share of the travel and tourism economy in Iran’s GDP will reach 313 thousand billion tomans from 2028.
One of the capacities of the country in the tourism sector is the development of health tourism. Considering the country’s capacities in this field and based on global standards, 2400 dollars of income is generated for each health tourist. In addition, due to many advantages such as nature, museums and unique cultural issues and historical record, most of the tourists who come to the country from neighboring and distant countries for treatment become mixed tourists, that is, in addition to the issue of treatment and health, they also come from medical centers. They visit the sights of the country, museums and historical buildings.
